ABOUT ABOUT

Have you ever wanted to meet a famous author? Three acclaimed authors, Corban Addison, Chris Pavone, and Roger Rosenblatt, take the stage in Francis Scott Key Auditorium on November 4 at 3 p.m. to discuss their latest works of fiction and nonfiction that tell compelling stories of human drama and intrigue. The discussion is followed by a book signing and reception.

Bestselling author Rosenblatt (Making Toast and Unless It Moves the Human Heart) delivers a stirring meditation on the passages of grief, the solace of solitude, and the redemptive power of love in his latest work, Kayak Morning. Two and a half years following the death of his 38-year-old daughter, Rosenblatt explores his years as a journalist and the value of solitude, poignantly reminding us that grief is not separate from life, but encompasses it.

Addison’s new novel, A Walk Across the Sun, tells the story of two teenage Indian girls who, orphaned by a devastating tsunami, are abducted and forced into a brothel. A Washington, D.C. lawyer, who is facing his own personal crisis, makes it his mission to rescue them and finds himself against an international network of criminals. Bestselling writer John Grisham praised Addison’s work saying, “[It is] a novel that is beautiful in its story and also important in its message.”

Pavone’s thriller The Expats tells the story of an American family in Luxembourg whose lives begin to unravel as their once familiar world is ripped apart by secrets and unnerving suspicions. The New York Times Book Review calls it “Smartly executed [and] thoroughly captivating. Pavone is full of sharp insights into the parallels between political espionage and marital duplicity.”

The presentation is followed by a wine-and-hors d’oeuvre reception and book signing. This annual event is sponsored by the Caritas Society of St. John’s College.
